Purchasing and Planning Specialist

Tru Cabinetry is looking to fill the role of a Purchasing and Planning Specialist. This is a salaried exempt, professional, position reporting directly to the Director of Purchasing and Logistics. We are looking for a dedicated team player who has unquestionable ethics, with a willingness to learn and develop as the company continues to grow.

 In this role your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Manage assigned commodities
  • Create PO's and issue to suppliers to meet production requirements
  • Receive and close Purchase Orders upon delivery
  • Provide support for other internal customers such as Maintenance and Engineering
  • Utilize desktop applications to prepare reports and analysis as required
  • Maintain and update inventory records to include conducting cycle counts
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and report any stock issues to management
  • Work with leadership to research discrepancies and identify solutions
  • Control supplies and stock by planning the correct quantity of parts and optimize on hand stock
  • Act as a contact for suppliers
  • Monitor purchase orders and suppliers for on-time delivery, quality and best pricing
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and seek solutions using appropriate resources
  • Participate in Physical Inventories
  • Participate in production meetings

To be Successful in this role you will need:

  • Basic knowledge of inventory control policies and procedures
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to manage special projects
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Specifically Excel)
  • Critical Thinking
  • Ability to multitask with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate across all layers of the organization, laterally and vertically

To be a preferred candidate you would:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems, planning, and/or an ERP implementation
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • APIC's certification
  • 2+ years of verifiable strategic and tactical sourcing
  • Prior experience in the wood and/or building products industry; specifically cabinets
